its 2 am rn... i wonder why thats the time i wanna write blog posts the most. anyways i have tomorrow off work and ive been thinking a lot about why we work and why i think its incredibly stupid and dumb we have to work to pay for stuff like shelter and water. it feels incredibly dystopian. idk why its like this, i wish it wasnt. it feels incredibly demeaning and devoid of doing anything, and i have this sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach i cant seem to knock and i dont know when its going to go away, its kind of swirling around in my stomach like im being punished for something i never done to begin with. its best not to revel in it because it also makes me think like... what do i do tomorrow? i have the whole day to myself and i can spend it doing whatever i wanna do, thats weird to think about in retrospect but thats life, tbh. i ordered a 20 CD lot off ebay a couple of days ago and it came in today (i was hoping it did, shipping cost like 10 bucks) and its legit one of the best things i found. beastie boys, de la soul, outkast, linkin park, eminem.. like all this good stuff for 50 bucks, it felt too good to be true and it still does. ive been on an insane beastie boys kick as of late and it feels really nice because theyre really dope. a lot of the music i listen to was inspired by them so i though i might as well check them out and i am OBSESSED. why havent i listened to them before? i love their instrumentals and flows so much, makes me very inspired myself (possible julie mixtape? :0). i really love their triple person flow, where they all switch saying words, it feels so rewarding every single time and i dont know why. one of my favorite examples is during 'fight for your right" where they say their name and each member says a syllable. that sounds so complicated looking at the text but in lamen's terms: i think its fun when they say verses together. i really love their call and response attitude when it comes to music as well, it feels kind of awesome to listen to one of them call another member's name and they start rapping, best example is one of the later verses on "body movin"." i think my favorite member is adrock to be honest, i love his voice so much and he's really cool in interviews. also his verses in "alive" are so real. "i'd like to have a say on the income tax, don't want to help build bombs and that's the facts, no money for health care so what's the catch? the man got you locked with the keys to the latch", too real man, toooooo real. i really like all the members though, mike d is funny and the most out there was mca, as he directed most videos, ahem, i mean his swedish uncle nathaniel hornblower ;). as i was saying though, theyre all dope in their own way and theyre so cool together, i can sit down and watch their videos all day. i also have the beastie boys video anthology from criterion and its so dope to own, i need a day to sit down and explore the entire thing but everything ive delved into so far is really cool, the multiple angles are cool and the commentary tracks w spike jonze, mca and this one dude (his name is blanking on me, sorry D:) are really funny and i cant wait to sit down and listen to them. i really love beastie boys so much, not even sure why, theyre just really cool and all theyve done is so fun to look at. i can see myself falling down certain b-boy rabbit holes cause of the beastiemania site (i already did while writing this blog post). its getting late so im gonna wrap this up so i can lay down and get rest, but i cant shut up about beastie boys, go figure. im just ditting here mindlessly looking at what i type completely still, barely blinking and no reason to move anything outside of my fingers and my eyeballs… okay im getting really tired, lol. im already forgetting what i want to type whoops. i hope you all have a great night, that bed is going to feel super comfortable. goodnight julienet nation.
